Water Drops

Drops fall from the sky,
Smashing into everything
That blocks their path.

Yet when they're together,
The rain gently and smoothly,
Washes away the layers of dirt.

The sandbag dike blocking these
Rushing waters from above,
Stopping them from flooding in.

They peel away my dike,
Day by day, layer by layer,
In seconds the dike lost.

Once my friend, now a foe.
That which gave me life,
Has taken it away from me.
